LARISSA MINNAARD

Odi odi Minnaard, I am a 20-year-old student in my final year of the BSc in Child studies at Erasmus University.
Last year, as the comissioner Career and Culture of the 10th SSA board, I realized our bond with members van ben stronger. Hence, I challenged myself to step into the role of president this year to hopefully make a positive change.
In this position, my goal is to make SSA true home away from home for students of all cultural backgrounds. In my free time, you’ll often find me experimenting in the kitchen, hitting the gym, and/or coming up with new ways to annoy my mom😂.
I am looking forward to seeing you at our next event.

XYMPHONY de DRIE

Odi Odi.
My name is Xymphony and I am the Secretary/Vice-President of the 11th board of SSA. I study the International Master in CLinical Psychology at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. This is my first year as a member of the association and I wanted to make an impact by becoming a part of the board.
I was born and raised in Rotterdam and my parents are from Suriname. This meant that I was taught about our cultural norms and values from a young age.
It was not until I left for my exchange in Canada that I understood the power and importance of community. Experiencing this change of environment and building a community there, made me realise that I wanted to give back to my community, ‘’my famiri’’, back home.
I look forward to meeting a lot of you during our events and working closely together with my board members. ❤️

Darin Suarez

My name is Darin Suarez, and I will be fulfilling the role of SSA’s treasurer this year. I am 27 years old and I am studying Finance & Control at The Hague University of Aplied Sciences.
Born and raised in Suriname, I moved to The Netherlands to pursue my academic career when I was 18 years old, which is already a while ago 😉. I chose to actively engage in this association, because I want to connect with fellow Surinamese students, as well as students from other backgrounds. I want to increase my network and I would like to gain experience as a treasurer. As both an analytical thinker and a creative thinker, I will work tot he best of my abilities ot improve the finances of SSA, so that our members can benefit more of being a part of our association.
Besides my interest in the field of finance, in my spare time I like to make myself busy in my vegetable garden, where I grow lots of different Surinamese veggies.
I am looking forward meeting all of you at our future events.

Sanjana Ramawadhdoebe

Hi everyone,
My name is Sanjana Ramawadhdoebe and I am 19 years old. I am currently studying Biology and Medical Labratory Research at the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences.
I was born in The Netherlands and when I was 9, I moved to Suriname, where I lived for 9 years. Now I have been back in the Netherlands for a year. I spend my free time with family & friends and I also love traveling and watching series.
I have been a member of SSa for about a year. Last academic year, I contributed to the Career & Culture Committee as a committee member and this year I will take up the position of SSA’s Human Resources.

I made the choice to join SSA because I was a member of a youth club in Suriname where I also functioned as president for one year. I wanted to continue doing social work and I am eager to meet new people.
I hope that this year I can contribute to SSA with my experiences of recent years. My goal this year is tob ring the SSA members closer together and take recruitment to a higher level. I hope to see you at one of our events!

Rishita Ramnarain

Commissaris Social media & Marketing
My name is Rishita Ramnarain and I will be in charge of SSA’s Social Media & Marketing this year. I am 19 years old and I am currently studying Communication & Media at the Erasmus University Rotterdam.

I am SUPER exited tob e a part of the new board, to connect with other people, to learn from one another, and of course, to have lots of fun this year! Born and raised in The Netherlands with Surinamese roots, I missed the connection with my fellow Surinamese people while growing up, which is why I joined SSA last year. And, I am happy to tell you I really found my place within SSA!
I see as an association where everyone is welcome, no matter what background you are from. I want to continue developing this year, by making our social media platforms more personal. I want our members to feel engaged and seen! Let’s make SSA a communitywhere everyone feels welcome, together.

In my free time I like to travel, discover delicious restaurants and eat some good (!) sushi at my parttime job. I also love driving around and acting as personal driver for my sister… 😉 And, as the youngest memeber, my latest hobby is teasing my fellow board members!
I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you!
