Hey guys,

My name is Nayan Ramawadhdoebe and I am the President this year. I am 20 years old and I’m currently doing the Entrepreneurship & Retail Management program at the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, where I’m currently in my third year. It was an honor to join the team last year and make a difference. It has taught me a lot and I look forward to doing it again this year as the new president.

Furthermore, my hobbies include; spending time with family & friends, socializing and baking. I enjoy meeting new people and always look for creative ways to make the people around me happy. I enjoy staying busy and like planning and coordinating. These are skills that play a significant part in my role as the new president.

My open, honest and spontaneous personality always ensure me that I’m able to create meaningful and long lasting relationships with my friends and family. Therefore, I can’t wait to meet all the new people in the upcoming year and I’m sure that I’ll make some great new friends.

Being a part of SSA gives me the opportunity to use my thoughtful and creative ideas in a way that helps a larger community. This year I want to pay my contribution to SSA by optimizing the internal processes within the association and ensuring that the annual planning is correctly formulated and implemented. Additionally, I hope to enhance SSA by creating a home for EVERYONE that is interested in getting to know the Surinamese culture. I’ll also contribute to shaping and finalizing the goals of SSA to ensure long-term success.

My name is Rashini Jadnanansing and this year I am the secretary of SSA. I’m 22 years old and was born and raised in sunny Suriname☀️. I’m Currently studying Business Administration at Erasmus University Rotterdam

To my core, I’m a homebody and I love reading and baking. However, I also love spending time with my friends and family, trying new restaurants and spending time in nature.

This (lustrum) year, I aim to make it a memorable year for SSA and our community. I’m really excited for this year and if you see me at events please don’t hesitate to come and have a chat.

Hello everyone!

My name is Shanya Somaroe, I am 22 years old, and during this special 10th board year I will be the Human Resources Commissioner of SSA!

Currently, I am finishing my master’s degree in Human Resource Management at the Erasmus University Rotterdam, while also working there as a Host in the Living Room focused on the improvement of student wellbeing. As you could probably tell, I am a people person and although I definitely enjoy my me-time, providing support and guidance to people is something I genuinely love to do resulting in people often describing me as loving, empathetic, and spontaneous but also as organized, accurate, and hardworking. With this, I hope to add value to SSA by contributing to our board being as aligned, inclusive, and, especially, happy as possible in order to make the greatest possible impact for you guys, our community! That would be a wonderful way of closing off the student chapter in my eyes.

Hello everyone! My name is Damian Chin Sie Jen and I study Industrial Engineering & Management science. I’m 23 years old and I’m your commissioner Social Media & Marketing this year. I’m the person doing all the promotions for our events, and much more. In short: I’m responsible for all our social media channels

I’ll be graduating next year so this will be my last year as a student (I hope ). My goal is to expand SSA by increasing our brand awareness and increasing interaction across all our social media platforms. 

Besides being a student and commissioner, I am also a student-assistant for third year students. I am currently following a minor to obtain my Green Belt certification and on Fridays I work at Kruidvat. I try to keep busy .

I love listening to music, reading new books, a walk in a park, watching marvel movies & DC shows, cooking, eating , watering my plants; mostly just the simple things in life.

Now that I’ve introduced myself I’d love to get to know you guys too at one of our upcoming events 😉

Heyy!! I am Tamira, the Events Commissioner this year! I am super excited to bring people from Suriname, and from the Surinamese Diaspora together. That said— my biggest challenge this year is seeking out and strengthening the community that exists, building upon it, and celebrating it. Celebrating— with food, drinks, music and people!

I am a third year bachelor student at Erasmus University, studying Management of International Social Challenges, with a minor in Museums, Cultural Heritage and Collections at Leiden University.

I love yummy yummy food, I love some Brenton Wood while cooking, I love to dance, and I talk to every person I see about all kinds of things. I also love being around really happy people (my favorite happy person to be around is my partner Pim ;)).

I hope to meet many of you at our events this year! Let’s have some fun 🙂

My name is Kimberley Gonesh, I’m 23 years old, I study Creative Business at Hogeschool Utrecht and will be graduating this academic year. I’m super excited to announce that I’m the new president of SSA Amsterdam!

I chose to join this year’s board of SSA because I want to do more during my last year as a student. I’m a Surinamese student in The Netherlands and I enjoy organizing stuff so why not combine them? I really want to create a community in Amsterdam where every student with an affinity for Suriname feels welcome and I plan on doing this by organizing fun events such as parties, pub quizzes, sports days and much more!

In my free time, I love to dance, eat good food, spend time with my sister, boyfriend and friends, binge-watch series and find new hobbies. As you can tell I always look for something to do. I’m creative, talkative, and energetic and I plan to bring that to SSA.
